Yard Care
Since we first molded plastic parts for small engines over 30 years ago, we've
learned a lot about yard care, regardless of the season. From snowblower to garden
tractor parts, we have produced a wide variety of durable plastic components that have
not only stood the test of time, but have won numerous design awards along the
way.
Of course, all that is the past and you're interested in what we can do for you on
your current projects and how we might fit your long-term strategies. As you
might expect, we have some thoughts on this.
As one of the largest, if not the largest co-injection molder in the world, we can
bring materials combinations to your project that others simply can't at costs that are
no longer prohibitive. As a Designer or Engineer, you may have been stifled in the
past by cost targets that prevented you from selecting the best material for your
application. If you could just replace some of that costly engineering grade material
from the wall section, maybe those cost targets could be met. Or, maybe you need the
chemical resistance of an olefin for your part, but olefins are just not stiff enough.
You may want the benefits of molded-in-color, but don't really want to pay for color
beyond the depth of a typical scratch. You could have even thought of thinning out
walls to save weight only to find that the part was too flimsy. There may have been
times you selected a more costly material solely because you needed rigidity in one
specific area of the part. Our patented co-injection technology offers a world of
opportunity that prior to it's availability, simply did not exist. By completely
encapsulating core materials with skin materials selected for their appearance,
environmental resistance, or durability, we keep costs down. Core materials can be
off-spec purchased at huge discounts. They may be reclaimed materials that need
not meet aesthetic requirements because they will never be seen. Core materials can
be foamed using our FoamCore technology* to reduce weight or even noise emissions
in some cases. We can even robotically place extruded Fulcrumä continuous glass
profiles in strategic areas of the part to add aluminum like rigidity to key areas.
All this is available in machine sizes ranging from 500 ton to 6600 ton. At parts
up to 25 square feet, we're not just talking about little parts anymore.
Nor are we talking only of injection molding. Multi-Layer (ML) extrusion
technology imparts the same types of benefits found in co-injection. Multi-
layer, multi-color, multi-materials are all available. Co-extrusion, where,
rather than layered on top of one another, materials are chosen and extruded to work
along side each other in one continuous piece to perform a variety of functions that
profiles from a single material just couldn't do. Maybe you need your product
reinforced in a manner that is tough like metal, but needs to spring back. Ask
us what continuous glass reinforcement can do for you. If you just need the
reinforcement in specific areas and need to keep costs down, we've done that
as well. With our capabilities in bending, punching, drilling, winding, coating,
and more, we have been able to make three dimensional extrusions that, well,
look injection molded. Foamed extrusions? Certainly.
Our customers have the added convenience of coming to us to not only help with
part design and development, but we can help select the process that will best fit
the form, fit, and function of your part at the best possible cost. As you consider
your project, consider all the possibilities. And as always....
We're here to help.
