Marine
The Bemis Contract Group prides itself in its understanding of
the markets it serves. Membership in the National Marine
Manufacturers Association keeps us current on many of the issues
involving your industry. Our ability to co/tri-injection mold
provides our marine customers the option of foamed core
products, which, in many cases, can reduce noise or provide
flotation capability to a now wider variety of engineering grade
thermoplastic options. Our machine size availability is capable
of producing parts as small as a bow-light lens up to an eight-foot dinghy. Molded-in-color can provide excellent UV, water,
and salt resistance without the expense of painting or the risk
of abrasion revealing a different color as in painted or SMC
poducts.
Our extrusion technologies are equally leading edge. Through
the use of the Fulcrum technology, licensed from Dow, we are
capable of providing continuous glass thermoplastic extrusions
with stiffness values meeting or exceeding those of aluminum or
costly thermoset plastic pultrusions. The resultant part can be colored,
eliminating the costly and environmentally threatening painting process.
And, because these parts do not take any kind of permanent set, they resist
denting, bending, and abrasion. These materials can be co-extruded with
other materials imparting the aesthetic enhancements or additional
performance characteristics you require. We extrude a wide variety of
materials from commodity resins to vinyls and engineering grades.
Combined with our capabilities of in-line finishing, heat-forming,
punching, and cutting simple profiles are a thing of the past.
Other processes such as MuCell microcellular foam, licensed
from Trexel, multi-layer extrusion, two-shot and three-shot
injection molding, as well as, soft-touch overmolding and
complex die design are only a few of the other technologies
available from the Bemis Contract Group. If you'd like to explore
some of these advanced plastic technologies for your next marine
application, just let us know.
We're here to help.
