Designer's Perspective
Before Bemis
Buell motorcycles' standard assembly procedure was to put together two specific parts
together in the final assembly; a highly aesthetic, glossy "show" parts run in several
colors; and a purely functional (and hidden) black part.
After Bemis
Both parts were manufactured at the same time with one tool - a 2-barrel machine. Best
of all, we were able to assemble the two parts at the press - saving Buell the extra
step and cost of assembly.
